After making peace with them, the Piceni obtained their own citizenship, and they built a bridge in a place still called Ponteprimario.

In 839 Maiori was destroyed by Longobard Sicardo, Duke of Benevento. In 842 the Amalfi Coast started to rebuild it’s fortifications. Maiori was under the Normans until they left and partecipated in the first Crusade. n 1137 the Pisan destroied almost all the fortresses in the republic.

Maiori passed to the Aragonese in 1342. ll the Amalfitan Costal Communities was a part of the Royal States untile beginning of the Italian Republic on the 8th September 1943.
